# Rubido Linux 5.0 Recovery

Use this when a Rubido Linux install boots poorly, loses network, or needs to
return to macOS before operator approval finishes.

## Boot Picker

1. Shut the Mac down.
2. Hold the power button until startup options appear.
3. Select macOS to return to the host OS, or select Rubido Linux to retry boot.

## Network Recovery

Rubido joins networks in this order during the field test:

1. FX iPhone hotspot.
2. android-enterprise-5g hotspot.
3. xe3000 travel router.
4. Direct hotel Wi-Fi only when direct connectivity works.

If the approval node is unreachable, Rubido keeps the smoke report locally and
shows a waiting-for-approval state. Do not move production roles until approval
and smoke gates complete.

## Encryption Recovery

Rubido Linux 5.0 restore requires LUKS2 before files are restored. The installer
records:

- LUKS2 format proof.
- Boot passphrase enrollment.
- Recovery key reference.
- LUKS header backup reference.
- Post-install smoke report proof.

If the boot passphrase is unavailable, use the stored recovery-key reference and
header-backup reference from the post-install report. Do not bulk restore data
onto an unencrypted root volume.

## Restore Hold

VM inventory may be downloaded during recovery, but VM autostart stays disabled
until per-VM smoke tests pass.
